Advocating on behalf of Hawaii’s homeless is one of PIC’s most important priorities and one of the strongest methods to influence public policy and effect social change. Advocacy offers individuals the opportunity to participate in the democratic process in support of a particular cause or policy.
Supports all the 12 line items in the budget bill that cover PIC priorities, but focuses on just three key issues: Housing First, Youth Outreach and Alder Street project and Rental Subsidies. For the 2017 Legislative Session, bills to support Housing First and rental subsidies are dead, so this budget bill is the only vehicle now to provide input to the legislature!
